Fun in the Sun

One thing the kids looked forward to every day at the beach was the ice cream truck.  Every day, day after day, then when he realized we had a lot of little ones, many times a day, every day.  His little song playing over that little speaker on top of the truck got a little annoying after a while.  But the grandkids loved the ice cream truck! We have a few non-readers, so the pictures on the side of the truck were great fun for them to look at and choose a cold option! So we had this great idea that we would make our own little ice cream truck sign for our celebration on the 4th.

Several 4th of July’s ago Ricky and I had this conversation about how we wanted a pool and that it didn’t look like we would be able to put one in any time in the near future and our grandchildren were not getting any younger, the next thing I knew were putting up one of those HUGE blue above ground things!! I know!!! When you pulled up in the front yard you could see it through the house! It was so blue!! But we are all sophisticated now and have actually partially buried that thing, and this year we added a swim-up bar/snack bar! Now I know that you’re all going to go pinning crazy over this thing! But just know, you’ve got to have a backhoe, and a lot of skill that the average person probably doesn’t possess!

Okay, back to the ice cream truck/sign/swim-up snack bar. Ricky is so crafty he just cut a hole in the fence surrounding the pool and added a snack station. The fun thing about it is that you can’t even see that sucker unless you open it up. So we just waited until everybody was here and then – BAM!! The big surprise! It was a huge hit! They loved it.

We had such a fun day! Our kids are such good sports and appreciate a good laugh and definitely know how to appreciate the little things! We are blessed!

The “warm pool”/hot tub is always the most popular with these guys, even when it is 100 degrees!

This guy likes a little nap after a swim!

No firework pictures for us! Everybody took off around dark to watch fireworks and we listened to them with our heads on our pillows! I hope your 4th of July was full of fun in the sun and all the people you love!
