Okay, seriously, who am I kidding? Painting the ceiling! Are you kidding me! I have lived a lot of years, and I am pretty good at figuring out when something might kill me, or make me crippled and unable to do anything for the next few months! I am a lot older than when we built this house, because I definitely painted ceilings then, I think.
But since I had paint clothes on and I was determined to paint something, I painted the dining room table. I realize, as the bride so sweetly reminded me this morning, the table will be covered with a tablecloth at the WEDDING, but I do have a life, and we are going to eat until the DAY.
The family is going to be terribly disappointed as one of their favorite things to do when we were all sitting around talking is peel the old paint off, but no more! I bought this table years ago at our local resale shop for $85. It has three leaves which I find incredibly useful and extends to a whopping 102″!
So I had some chalk paint that I had been dying to try. One of Ricky’s pet peeves is that I buy paint but never actually paint anything…well, watch out! I’m about to be a painting fool! I LOVE chalk paint.
I started out with the Vermont Slate. It was kind of blue so I braved the storm yesterday and made a run for the Annie Sloan Graphite. Our local antique mall carries both brands! I liked it a lot better. (I have pinned lots of recipes to make your own chalk paint, and when I have more time I would love to try them…because they do not give this stuff away!)
I loved the way that it went on! There is no prep, other than making sure your surface is clean and dry.
I am so happy with the way it turned out! (I am laughing, never know when you might need a ladder or a kettle bell, right?)
And that ceiling, not to worry, my daughter, that is not the bride, and her buddies think it sounds like fun to come and paint it for me for food and beverage! A little girls’ night out! SCORE!
